Singur, Nandagudi, Khandsa - Why Protests Can Seriously Affect The Indian Growth Story.

What if you head one of the most known and respected corporate groups of over a billion populated nation and are trying to materialize a dream ‘to gift the world its cheapest four wheeled locomotive’ with an investment of 350 million in it? However, despite getting assistance from people, you are to face every possible effort being done to drive you out of the scene? Well, ask Ratan Tata.

This man has been the UN- unsung hero of the picture called ‘Nano’ that has created much frenzy even before seeing the light of the day. Nano Plant at Singur has become synonymous with a ‘tug-of-war’ with the two ‘Ts’ forming the obvious participants in it- TATA and Trinamool Congress.

With the series of official letters and announcements doing rounds among the Government, the corporate house involved and the protesters’ party; what has come out of this churn is ‘Confusion’ as everybody is in a way working to serve his/her own purpose.

The business house finds this ‘previously anonymous’ place the most viable and compatible for the productions of its ‘little bundle of joy’, Government is trying to bring development in this area by letting the plant to be set-up and farmers, along with a woman called ‘Mamata Banerjee’ are hell bent on not transferring the ownership of their ‘emotional value’ attached land.

So, where is the flaw? Actually, the policy needs a re-consideration. To state it in simple words, a person can not be forced to sell his/her belongings no matter what amazing price is being offered. There need to be very strong and convincing arrangements when people leave their grounds.

However, the dust seems to be settling now and we can hope to have a clearer scene out of it as some substantial compromises are on.

Well to end it all, a simple solution can be to gift each farmer a ‘Lakhtakiya’ to drive!! What say?
