NTT Docomo is the leading mobile phone operator in Japan. It is the subsidiary company of Japan’s Nippon Telegraph and Telephone (NTT) Corporation. The recently launched ‘Osaifu-Keitai’ mobile handset by NTT Docomo that extends the operations of a mere mobile phone to a digital wallet has been targeted to make the life easier for a user. The phone can be referred as a ‘Walled Mobile’ that is equipped to use for electronic money, identity card, credit card, loyalty card, for fare collection in public transports like buses, railways, airplanes, etc. This phone is a perfect example of how the company is empowering their efforts in the field of research and development and is focused towards their ‘Customer-First’ philosophy. NTT Docomo has made its presence felt in global mobile phone market with its wholly owned subsidiary companies, research facilities and branch offices in Asia, Europe and North America. NTT Docomo has also entered into a number of strategic alliances with mobile operators and mobile multimedia service providers in Europe and Asia Pacific regions. Its global strategic investments in mobile service providers like HTCL (Hong Kong), FET (Taiwan), U-Mobile (Malaysia), TM International (Bangladesh), PLDT (Philippines) and KT Freetel (Republic of Korea), and the recent USD 2.7 billion investment in Tata Teleservices (India), just indicate towards the signs of uptrend in the global expansion activities of the company.
