Having won thousands of hearts and reaching what could be called a “cult status” all across India, Zoozoos- the “alien-like” black and white creatures in telecom giant Vodafone’s ads are on the verge of going global.
Vodafone currently operates in two-and-a-half dozens of countries all across the globe including India, Portugal, Qatar, UK, Australia, Egypt, South Africa and Italy. Seems like after seeing the enormous popularity enjoyed by the characters, and their subsequent positive effect on the company’s performance in the cut-throat competitive Indian telecom market, Vodafone-Essar could not resist the temptation of introducing Zoozooz to the customers of its global market.
Apparently, the issue was raised during a conference some two weeks back, and all the business representatives of the company agreed to take Zoozoos to other markets as well, Andy Halford, the chief financial officer in Vodafone Group said in an exclusive statement to PTI.
Mr. Halford, however, did not reveal the time-frame within which the company plans to introduce the character to other markets, and neither did he mention which countries are next in Zoozoos’ radar.
Zoozoos, who were introduced to the Indian customers some three years back, were mistaken by many as animated characters during the earlier days. However, the company later revealed that they were, actually, actual human beings in costumes.
