Nation’s largest IT service provider, TCS (Tata Consultancy services) has deferred its plans of lateral hiring. Also, the salary for next year is expected to be in single digit percent.
This is being done to save on costs, as much as is possible. Moreover, the company carried out lateral hiring recently, so has shifted its focus on trainees.
However, the firm stands by its statement of bringing in 24,800 people in FY 2009-10, for which campus offers have already been made.
The company informed last year that a ratio of 60:40 would be followed for trainees and laterals respectively.
Ajoy Mukherjee, Vice-President and Head of Global Human resources at TCS, said that the recruitment of experienced people has not been ruled out completely, but will be more dependent on business need and domain expertise.
