Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit today informed that the government is considering a cut in the jet fuel prices. This would be a respite for sure, for the cash-starving Airline Industry.
She was participating in an aviation seminar. She was asked by Vijay Mallya, Kingfisher Airlines to reduce the tax on aviation turbine fuel, to 4%. He was also supported by Civil Aviation Secretary, M Madhavan Nambiar. Reacting to the demand, Dikshit said that the proposal would be considered seriously, as similar changes have taken place in Mumbai and Hyderabad also. Though she denied of any ‘sure development’ in this direction but expressed a positive outlook.
She also said that an increase in passenger load in both domestic and international terms, requires some changes o accommodate these.
Currently, the tax on ATF in Delhi is 20%.
