Wipro, the third largest software exporter of India, today declared that it is not eligible for contesting direct contracts with the World Bank till 2011.
In June 2007, the World Bank had clearly determined that the IT major is not eligible to contest direct contracts with it for the time period of 2007-2011 due to conflict of interests between the two. The total revenues of Wipro on account of World Bank are insignificant.
This current standing of Wipro against the World Bank would not adversely affect the business operation of the company, according to a spokesperson. The company with regard to the revised disclosure policies today unveiled its vendor status with the World Bank.
