Industry experts feel the slow business days of the players of automobile sector are to take some while before vanishing completely. Maruti Suzuki MD Shinzo Nakanishi while interacting with the media during his visit to an award ceremony in Mumbai, said that this year is going to be a tough one for the sector.
Pawan Goenka, President, Mahindra and Mahindra admitted that though both positives and negatives are to be confronted; he did not clearly indicate as to which direction will the companies be heading for. The fact that 35 launches that are slated to occur in this year might bring back the excitement of consumers, Goenka said. Also, the sliding back of commodity prices together with the Government attempts can bring the distorted economy back in shape.
However, the interest rates not backing-off to the expected extent are hampering a rise in domestic demand. The tough times of the industry has caused the domain giants to defer plans, with the export market’s share too touching an all-time low.
