It seems that Jindal group has decided to opt for BHEL to supply nearly 10000 crore worth of equipement related to its power projects. Further reports indicate that government was instrumental in getting the Jindals move towards the PSU citing national interest in times of recession.
It is interesting to note that in recent times, Chinese products are swamping the energy sector and lot of Indian manufacturers including PSUs are finding it difficult to catch up with the nimble footed Chinese players.
Though it’s good that Jindals will keep their contract in the country, it would be more prudent for the government to give incentives Indian manufacturers to produce quality goods at lower price so as to make holistic impact on the industry.
