India’s top car-maker, Maruti Suzuki India, today turns 25 and aims to become a global player in the automobile market. The Indian automobile industry is presently going through a tough period following the global financial turmoil. Productions are low; many automobile companies have shut down their plants and deploying cost saving measures such as job-cutting.
According to the Chairman of Maruti Suzuki India, the company have started their journey with an aim to modernize the Automobile Industry in India and change the outlook of personal transportation. And the company have certainly done that.
For the next 25 years the company have an ultimate objective to find a potential place in the global automobile market. Since December 14, 1983, when the first Maruti 800 car rolled out from its manufacturing plant, over 70 lakh have been sold by the company, from which Maruti 800 accounts for over 27 lakh cars.
