Promoter of Kingfisher Airlines, Vijay Mallya on Saturday made an announcement regarding the reduction in salaries of 50 trainee co-pilots of Kingfisher. He referred it as another move towards the cost cutting measure to overcome from the financial turmoil currently shaking up the Indian Aviation Industry.

No further specifications are provided by the company with respect to salary cut but insisted that the effected employees would remain on existing pay-roll of the company. They would be eligible to all possible benefits like medical and travel allowances that are currently availed by the other employees of Kingfisher Airlines.

The company officials also mentioned that Line pilots and flight commanders are presently exempted from this move of salary cut. Earlier this Week in the Board meeting of the Airline, Vijay Mallya gave a clear indication that he had no surplus staff and therefore there is no question of any retrenchment measures.

This decision of significant remuneration cut by Kingfisher followed the move of Jet Airways taking back its decision to sack 1,900 employees on Thursday. Kingfisher and Jet Airways have already entered into a code sharing coalition to cut losses and would share operations like fuel management, network rationalization and ground handling.
